Dan Reed surrendered to the ministry in September of 2002. He knew from the first day of his calling that the Lord has surely called him to be an evangelist. However, after receiving wise counsel from many dear brothers, it was obvious to him that he must first pastor a local church so that he would be able to minister to local pastors. Dan served as Senior Pastor of El Bethel Baptist Church from 2005-2011. The Lord certainly blessed this ministry as there was both spiritual and numerical growth. In the spring of 2011, Dan resigned his position as pastor and has been called on staff at Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN to serve as staff evangelist. The Bible plainly teaches us that the Lord has given the gift of “evangelist” to the local church.
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelist; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” Eph 4:11-13 (KJV).
